State Committee of A.P. State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Staff and Workers Federation on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) urged the authorities to drop plans to operate e-buses, which were proposed to be inducted into the fleet under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model.

Speaking at a State conference on “Impact of private electric buses on RTC and the public,” organised by the federation leaders in Vijayawada, All-India Road Transport Workers Federation’s national vice-president Lakshmaiah said that the decision of the governments, both the Centre and the States, to introduce electric buses in GCC model posed a threat to RTC depots.
