Thirty-three officers from Karnataka, belonging to four different departments, have been conferred the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service, and Gallantry on the occasion of Republic Day.
Two senior police officers and one Home Guards and Civil Defence officer have been awarded the Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Devajyoti Ray, at present serving as Additional Director General of Police, Grievance and Human Rights; Rangappa T., Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ulsoor sub-division in Bengaluru; and Pradeep Kumar Ranswamy, Senior Platoon Commander, Holenarasipura in Hassan district, have been selected for the honour.
Gallantry Medals have been conferred on K.V. Manjunatha, Regional Fire Officer, and firemen Hemanth Kumar D. and Mallikarjuna.
The Police Medal for Meritorious Service has been awarded to 20 officers across various ranks. The recipients include Chetan Singh Rathor, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Northern Range; Amit Singh, IGP, Western Range; Seema Latkar, Commissioner of Police, Mysuru; S. Savita, Deputy IGP, Home Guards, Bengaluru; and M. Puttamadaiah, Deputy IGP and Principal, Police Training College, Kalaburagi.
Other awardees include Nagappa Naveen Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Ballari District-2; Raja Imam Kasim Pinjar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime-2; Chambanil Abraham Simon, Superintendent of Police, DCRE, Mangaluru; and Hanumantharaya, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bidar.
Eleven officers from the ranks of police inspectors, sub-inspectors and constables have also been conferred the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. In addition, seven officers from the Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guards, and Prisons and Correctional Services will receive medals for meritorious service.
