The political rivalry between the Bhuma and Gangula families has reportedly resurfaced in Allagadda Assembly constituency in Kurnool district following allegations regarding the handling of human-hair auction contracts at Ahobilam Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple.

Former MLA and YSR Congress party leader Gangula Brijendra Nath Reddy accused the current MLA and TDP leader Bhuma Akhila Priya and her family of allegedly obstructing the transportation of temple hair consignments in order to secure commissions from the contracts.

Rejecting the charges, Ms. Akhila Priya threw an open challenge to Mr. Gangula to prove his allegations in a public debate before any media organisation or even at his residence. Speaking to the media, she said that she would resign as MLA in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and quit politics if the allegations were proven.

She demanded that the YSRCP leader issue a public apology if he failed to prove his claims. Police remained on alert as tensions escalated in the constituency.
