A garment shop-owner was found dead at his residence in Laxmiguda, Mailardevpally, on Sunday night. An officer from Mailardevpally police said that the family members alleged that financial difficulties had caused him mental distress.

The deceased was identified as Sailu, 35. According to police, his wife, Bandari Mounika, 29, approached the police station on Monday morning and lodged a complaint regarding the incident.

According to the complaint, Sailu returned home after closing his garment shop at around 9 p.m. on May 31 and went into the bedroom. A short while later, when his wife went to call him, she found the door closed and received no response. Suspecting something was wrong, she opened the door with the help of relatives and found him hanging inside.

Family members brought him down immediately, but he had already died. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS and initiated an investigation. Police said preliminary information suggests that the man had been under mental distress due to financial problems.
