In a major operation, police raided a Club (Society), located at Pothavarappadu village in Eluru district and arrested large number of people who were uindulging in gambling.
The team led by Nuzvid Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K.V.V.N.V. Prasad raided the club and arrested the people who were from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.
“We arrested 281 gamblers, seized 130 cars, 40 two-wheelers, about 250 mobile phones and ₹32 lakh cash,” Mr. Prasad told The Hindu on Monday (December 22, 2025).
The club management was organising the gambling and attracting punters from Eluru, Krishna, NTR, East Godavari, Khammam, Suryapet and other districts in AP and Telangana States, the DSP said.
“The accused were booked under the AP Gaming Act, 1974. The gamblers along with the seized material would be produced in the court,” Mr. Prasad said.
