Forest Minister Eshwar B. Khandre has sought a report from the Karnataka Forest Department, demanding details of alleged visits by senior officials and veterinarians from the State to Vantara, the 3,500-acre private zoo run by billionaire Anant Ambani in Gujarat.

In a note dated March 23, 2026, the Minister asked for details of the officials who made the visit, the reason for their visit, and who gave them permission for the same. The department has been asked to give a detailed report in seven days and issue a circular making it mandatory for anyone visiting private zoos or wildlife rehabilitation centres to obtain permission from the Forest Minister.
