A 30-year-old man was arrested by the Osmania University police in connection with a burglary in Tarnaka.
The officials recovered gold ornaments weighing around 14.5 tolas.
The accused, identified as Marneni Bala Dheeraj, a physiotherapist residing in Nacharam, was apprehended on October 6 near Tarnaka.
According to officials, Dheeraj was previously involved in an attempted theft case registered at Tappachabutra police station in 2013.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by a Tarnaka resident, who reported a burglary at his home on the night of September 27.
The complainant and his family had gone to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to drop off relatives, and upon returning after midnight, they discovered that gold jewellery and cash were missing from their son’s bedroom.
Among the stolen items were four bracelets, six pairs of earrings, two pairs of diamond earrings, and four mangalsutras, together weighing about 14.5 tolas of gold, along with ₹10,000 in cash.
Investigators tracked down Dheeraj based on leads and upon interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to committing the offence.
