The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will soon launch passport-style service centres across its limits to enable citizens to obtain e-Khata certificates quickly and without hassle.
Speaking at a press conference at GBA head office, Tushar Giri Nath, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Department, said that the new system will replace the earlier round-robin process, ensuring transparency and faster service.
During the conference, GBA Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao said that 22,539 potholes have been repaired so far, with work ongoing across arterial and sub-arterial roads. “While continuous rains have slowed progress, long-term plans are being developed to control potholes next year. The city has 1,682 km of major roads, many of which have not received funding for over eight years,” Mr. Rao said, adding that that the ongoing upgrades will significantly reduce traffic congestion.
The GBA is implementing a comprehensive ₹4,800-crore road development programme. White topping is under way on 157 km at a cost of ₹273 crore, high-density corridor roads of 79 km are being developed at ₹694 crore, and 392 km of roads are being block-topped at ₹694 crore. “All ongoing white topping and black topping works are expected to be completed by March 2026, and other tender-stage projects are slated for completion by June 2026. M.G. Road, however, will not be white topped due to high traffic loads and permission constraints from the city traffic police. Instead, only black topping will be done to minimise the disruptions in the Central Business District area,” Mr. Rao said.
The officials further added that tenders have been invited for 33 packages for solid waste collection and disposal in the city after a two-year pending legal case was resolved.
