On M.K. Gandhi’s 157th birth anniversary, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing a stamp and a commemorative coin to mark the RSS centenary, and urged everyone to take a pledge to revive the nation from such a “shameful” situation.

“On Gandhi’s birth anniversary, everyone should take a pledge to revive India from a shameful situation, where the person holding the highest office is releasing a stamp and commemorative coin on the centenary of the RSS movement, which gave shape to the dreams of the communalist who assassinated the father of our nation,” Mr. Stalin said in a post on X.

“Gandhi was the one who laid the basic foundation for the core principle that India is a secular nation for all religious communities,” Mr. Stalin said.

“Whenever seeds of hatred are sown among people and divisive forces rise, he is the source of strength that continually gives us the power to resist them,” he said.

Earlier, Mr. Stalin paid floral tributes to Gandhi’s statue installed on the museum campus in Egmore, Chennai.
