A meeting of the Kozhikode Corporation council held on Saturday (April 25, 2026) witnessed sharp criticism of officials over alleged delays in clearing bills and administrative lapses, with members flagging concerns about inefficiency in the civic body.

Councillors across the ruling front and the Opposition said officials’ negligence was recurring and that action, including suspension, should be taken.

The issue came to the fore during the meeting chaired by Mayor O. Sadasivan, where development standing committee chairperson V.P. Manoj, through a calling attention motion, accused sections of the municipal administration of mismanagement and highlighted technical issues in K-SMART. He specifically pointed to the failure of officials to clear bills related to two inauguration events held in October last year.
