Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday (November 25, 2025) handed over appointment letters to 7,293 candidates across 12 government departments, marking one of the largest recruitment drives in the government sector.

The appointment letters were distributed at a ceremony held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The Home Department accounted for the highest intake with 2,365 recruits, followed by the School and Mass Education Department, which inducted 2,154 candidates. The Forest and Environment Department recruited another 1,750 candidates, making it one of the major contributors to the drive.

Other departments that issued appointment letters included Agriculture, Higher Education, the Office of the Advocate General, Information and Public Relations, Water Resources, and Commerce and Transport.

“We had assured that we would create government job opportunities for them (the people). We are keeping our promise by regularly organising recruitment drives. From the very beginning, we made efforts to achieve our target of providing 65,000 government jobs within two years. In just 17 months, we have already appointed 37,325 candidates through 12 recruitment drives,” the CM said.

“Never before have so many posts been filled within such a short period. Our efforts will continue to exceed the target within two years. We are also taking steps to generate large-scale employment in the industrial sector,” Mr. Majhi said.

“Through the grounding of projects worth ₹2 lakh crore, employment for 1.5 lakh youth has been ensured,” Mr. Majhi said.
