Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations (OCTOPUS) team of the Andhra Pradesh police has conducted a mock drill at the Mahanandeeswara Temple at Mahanandi late on Sunday night.
The mock drill was conducted to train the local government departments and agencies to respond and react to situations like terror attacks, bomb blasts or any other emergency situations. The local police department, temple authorities, revenue, panchayat, fire department, medical and health and electricity department were explained how to coordinate and respond to emergency situations.
The OCTOPUS team had earlier held a coordination meeting with temple, police and other department officials prior to the drill. OCTOPUS deputy superintendents of police P Jaggu Naidu and I Tirupati Rao took part in the coordination meeting and also the drill.
All the departments were thoroughly explained their role and responsibility during an emergency situation after which the drill commenced at 9 p.m and went on till 1.30 a.m.
