Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), a City Gas Distribution (CGD) has assured uninterrupted supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for households and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for transport across its geographical areas in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

In addition, the company has introduced various benefits for its domestic and commercial PNG consumers, aimed at encouraging the use and adoption of PNG.

In line with the Natural Gas (Supply Regulation) Order, 2026 dated 9 March 2026, Domestic PNG and CNG have been recognised as the highest priority sector.

MGL has taken measures to maintain consistent supply so that customers continue to receive reliable and safe fuel for daily use. This would be applicable across all its geographical areas (GAs) — Mumbai, Thane, Mira-Bhayander, Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Chitradurg, Davengere, Latur and Dharashiv.

Alongside supply assurance, MGL has introduced a set of customer focussed initiatives to accelerate PNG adoption in the GAs. For domestic customers, the company is offering: Free gas worth ₹500 to all new registrations from 16 March till 30th April 2026, and ₹1,000 adjustment in gas bills per customer from new buildings where penetration level is more than 60%. Further, an instant discount of ₹500 per customer is being offered for web registrations and waiver of minimum charges during periods of non-usage.

Plans are on to introduce zero upfront registration charges wherein payments will be made only after conversion. Multiple payment plan options provided for the customers.

For commercial customers, MGL is waiving registration charges. The company will also undertake downstream infrastructure at its own cost.

These benefits are aimed at making PNG more accessible while maintaining high standards of service and reliability. “MGL remains focussed on delivering dependable solutions that support households and business establishments alike,” the company said.

PNG advisory to prevent fraud

Ashu Shinghal, Managing Director, Mahanagar Gas Limited said, “At MGL, we remain committed to seamless delivery of PNG and CNG and are working continuously to enhance our efforts to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. These initiatives and benefits reflect our vision and belief of expanding the reach of natural gas, which is essential for our nation’s transition to cleaner fuel.”

MGL said it will continue to strengthen its infrastructure and customer engagement efforts to ensure reliable supply and improved service delivery across all its geographical areas.
