Nellimarla Jana Sena Party MLA Lokam Naga Madhavi on Tuesday said that the Japanese afforestation technique of Miyawaki method were being adopted to rapidly increase the green cover in urban areas of Nellimarla and the outskirts of Vizianagaram city.

Speaking to The Hindu, she said native saplings would be planted densely under the Miyawaki method to promote faster growth and create a miniature forest in a couple of years. She thanked Panchayat Raj and Forest Minister Pawan Kalyan for sanctioning three ‘Nagara Vanams’ for Nellimarla constituency, which is surrounded by Vizianagaram city on all routes.

“Mr. Pawan Kalyan is very particular about improving greenery. Taking inspiration from him, we have been giving priority to seed ball plantation. It is an interesting concept, and schoolchildren are coming forward to participate by throwing seed balls in open and forest areas,” said Ms. Madhavi.

Recently, the MLA visited ‘Aranya Vanam’ at Bathalapalli village and suggested the forest department to implement seed ball plantation in all villages, with the involvement of schoolchildren and youngsters.

She said that the new ‘Nagara Vanams’ would significantly improve greenery in and around Bhogapuram international airport in the next few years. Ms. Madhavi added that the forest department would develop the parks as per the master plans approved by the Forest Ministry.
