Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief J.P. Nadda on Monday (September 29, 2025) constituted a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) delegation to visit Karur in Tamil Nadu and submit a report on the stampede during the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally by actor-turned-politician Vijay on Saturday (September 27) that claimed at least 40 lives.

The delegation will look into the circumstances that led to the incident, meet with the families affected by the tragedy, and submit its report at the earliest.

The delegation of parliamentarians includes Hema Malini as its convenor, along with former Union Minister Anurag Thakur; BJP Lok Sabha MPs Tejasvi Surya, and Aparajita Sarangi; BJP Rajya Sabha MPs Braj Lal, and Rekha Sharma; Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) MP Shrikant Shinde; and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Putta Mahesh Kumar as members.

“Deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in the tragic stampede that occurred in Karur district of Tamil Nadu. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, and I pray that the injured recover soon. May God grant strength and courage to all those affected by this tragedy,” Mr. Nadda had earlier posted on social media platform X.
