Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to ensure that no part of the State faced a shortage of drinking water and asked them to closely monitor rainfall patterns and reservoir levels to enable timely intervention.
Reviewing the performance of various departments at a meeting held at the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) in the Secretariat, Mr. Naidu stressed the need for continuous monitoring of water availability in reservoirs and the implementation of contingency measures wherever necessary.
Officials informed him that improved rainfall in the upper catchment areas was expected to enhance water availability in the Krishna and Godavari river basins. They also briefed him on the flood situation in the Godavari and the likely impact of inflows into reservoirs.
The Chief Minister directed officials to make optimum use of water flowing into the Krishna basin from upstream regions. He also instructed the departments concerned to ensure an adequate supply of fodder and maintain sufficient reserves to meet the needs of livestock throughout the year.
Reviewing the functioning of the Transport Department, officials outlined measures to expand the use of technology and remove unnecessary regulations to curb corruption and improve service delivery.
Mr. Naidu directed officials to simplify procedures and do away with avoidable conditions to make the department more citizen-friendly.
Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad and senior officials attended the meeting.
