Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy has accepted the resignation tendered by Telangana Jagruthi President and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha to her membership.

A notification issued by Secretary to Legislature (Legislative Council) V. Narasimha Charyulu said Ms. Kalvakuntla Kavitha, an elected member from Nizamabad Local Authorities constituency, has resigned to her seat and the same has been accepted by the Chairman of the Legislative Council.

Consequently, a vacancy has arisen in the Telangana Legislative Council from Nizamabad LAC.

It may be mentioned here that Ms. Kavitha had tendered her resignation to the membership of the Legislative Council on September 3, last year. She too denounced her membership of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) soon after.

The Telangana Jagruthi chief, who was suspended from BRS by the party leadership in a speech in the Council on Monday had appealed to the Chairman to accept her resignation letter.

Soon after speaking in the House, she addressed a press conference where she hinted at floating a new political party and contesting the next Assembly elections.
