Congress workers protest demanding Amit Shah’s resignation, compensation for NEET students’ families and probe into paper leak

Congress district unit leaders and members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest in Kalaburagi city on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and seeking accountability from the Centre over issues concerning students.

The protesters raised slogans against the BJP-led Union government, alleging that the Home Minister should take responsibility for the police action against students during a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. They also demanded compensation for the families of students who died following the NEET examination controversy and sought a thorough probe into allegations of question paper leak.

Centre’s failure

Addressing the gathering, Congress leaders criticised the Centre over its handling of student-related issues and accused the government of failing to protect the interests of youths. They demanded a transparent investigation into the alleged NEET paper leak and called for strict action against those responsible for the incident.

The protesters alleged that the use of force against students exercising their democratic right to protest was unacceptable and reflected a failure to uphold democratic values. They said students should be allowed to raise their concerns without intimidation and demanded justice for families affected by the NEET controversy.

They reiterated their demand for Mr. Shah’s resignation, stating that the Union government must accept responsibility and ensure accountability. They warned that agitations would continue until their demands, including compensation for affected families and an impartial inquiry into the alleged paper leak, were addressed.

MLAs B.R. Patil, Kaneez Fatima and Allamprabhu Patil, MLCs Jagdev Guttedar and Thippannappa Kamaknoor, and Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority chairman Mazhar Alam Khan were present during the protest.
