MLA for Belagavi South Abhay Patil has appealed to the Union government to transfer some unused defence land for the proposed IT park in Belagavi district.
Mr. Patil met with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi recently and urged him to transfer the defence land in Belagavi to the Karnataka government for setting up an IT and Semiconductor Park.
He suggested that if the land could not be transferred, a Defence Manufacturing Unit should be established on the site to generate employment opportunities for the youth of Belagavi. The Minister promised to consider the proposals.
Mr. Patil also met with Union Minister for Roads and Highways Nitin Gadkari to seek early approval of the Yellur Cable Car Project. He highlighted the project’s potential to promote tourism.
He said that once implemented, the facility would attract more visitors to the region, creating new business opportunities, employment avenues, and boosting the local economy.
Mr. Gadkari responded positively to the request, said a release.
