A minor fire broke out at the Anekal Government Hospital on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Tuesday (July 14) morning, prompting the swift evacuation of patients. No casualties or injuries were reported.

According to Fire and Emergency Services officials, the control room received an alert at 9.41 a.m., and a fire tender was dispatched within a minute.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the fire originated in the hospital’s mortuary room.

“Patients were immediately evacuated as a precautionary measure,” a Fire and Emergency Services officer said.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control, and the operation concluded by 11.30 a.m.

According to officials, a suspected short circuit sparked a fire at the hospital, filling sections of the building with thick smoke and prompting the immediate evacuation of patients as a precaution. The incident occurred at around 9.30 a.m. on the first floor of the hospital. Preliminary findings indicate that sparks were first noticed inside the operation theatre, following which the fire spread within the room, causing dense smoke to engulf parts of the hospital.

Officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
