Karnataka’s Minister for Heavy Industries M. B. Patil has instructed officials to fill the Hanchinal lake in Vijayapura city with treated waste water. Mr. Patil is the minister in charge of Vijayapura district.

At a meeting of the Vijayapura Urban Development Authority on March 2, the Minister told officials to ensure that all feeding canals were cleared of encroachments to remove impediments to water flow to the lake.

He instructed them to take up several measures for the development and beautification of the city and surrounding areas.

He told them to complete all pending development work, to co-ordinate with officers of various other departments, to publicise the decisions of the authority, including those of distribution of civic amenities sites, and to respond to all public grievances within reasonable time limits.

Vijayapura Urban Development Authority Chairperson Gangadhar Sambanni, MLAs Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and Vithal Khatakadond, were among those present at the meeting.
