Five residents of Rajajinagar in Bengaluru were killed in a road accident near Gangavaram Cross near Palamaner in the Chittoor-Bengaluru NH on Wednesday (March 4, 2026) morning, while travelling to Tirumala for darshan at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, police said.

The deceased — three women and two men — were identified as Mohan Das (71), Nagaraja Rao (61), Kusuma (61), Jayanthi (59) and Pooja (33). All of them were residents of Bengaluru.

The car in which they were travelling rammed the rear of a stationary lorry on the highway. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the death of all five occupants.

Police rushed to the spot-on receiving information and shifted the bodies for postmortem. The families of the deceased have been informed. A case has been registered.
