The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) in coordination with the Adilabad Police seized 109 unlabelled bottles purportedly containing Oxytocin injections during a joint operation conducted in Adilabad on Thursday (January 22, 2026).
According to an official release, the seized stock comprised transparent bottles of 200 ml each, allegedly in the possession of Mr. Mautho Aravind Kumar. Officials said that the injections were illegally stocked for sale and were intended for misuse in cattle.
Oxytocin is often administered unlawfully to dairy animals to artificially induce milk let-down and increase milk production. Such unauthorised use may have adverse effects on animal health. The abuse of oxytocin in livestock, particularly its illegal administration to enhance milk production, constitutes an offence under the law, the DCA officials said.
They added that further investigation will be carried out and action will be taken against all offenders in accordance with legal provisions.
