The Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad, will organise an open house on its premises at 10 a.m. on March 23 to mark World Meteorological Day. The theme this year is ‘Observing Today, Protecting Tomorrow’. The event will feature an exhibition of meteorological instruments, where officials will demonstrate how weather observation and forecasting are carried out and explain their relevance in everyday life. The programme is aimed at raising awareness among the public, particularly students from schools and colleges, about the science behind weather forecasting and its applications in areas such as disaster preparedness, agriculture and aviation, said a release.
