A daily-wage worker allegedly killed his 15-year-old daughter and tried to strangle his 17-year-old differently-abled son at their rented house in Karimnagar town on Saturday night.
The accused, identified as Mallesham, allegedly resorted to the act when his wife Pochamma, also a wage earner, was away. He fled soon after.
When Pochamma returned home, she found her daughter Archana lying unconscious and her son Ashrith in a semi-conscious state.
She rushed the children to a nearby hospital, where Archana was declared brought-dead. Ashrith was admitted to the ICU at the hospital. The exact motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
The couple, who hail from Mancherial district, had been living in Karimnagar with their two children for the past seven years.
Karimnagar Three Town police have registered a case and are on the lookout for Mallesham.
