VCK, CPI, CPI(M) and CPI(ML) functionaries on Thursday staged a protest in Madurai condemning the BJP-led NDA government for increasing the price of commercial cooking gas cylinders.

They also condemned the Centre for the move to reduce 29,000 posts in Indian Railways. The functionaries raised slogans against the BJP led NDA government and demanded the immediate roll back of the cylinder price and to withdraw the decision to reduce the number of posts in Indian Railways.

The public were affected by the hike in the price of commercial cooking gas cylinders, they said, adding that the move to reduce the number of posts in Indian Railways will affect the youth of the country.

Condemning the BJP-led NDA government, the functionaries said the economic policies of the Central government was favouring the corporate entities and was against the interests of the general public. Hundreds of functionaries of the left parties and the VCK participated in the protest.
