The fifth day of the ongoing nine-day annual ‘Brahmotsavam’ at Sri Govindaraja Swamy saw the idol dressed up as ‘Mohini’ in the morning and riding his favourite celestial carrier ‘Garuda Vahanam’ in the evening on Wednesday.
As part of the ‘Mohini Avataram’, the idol, draped in female attire was placed on a palanquin with a mirror placed in front.
In the evening, large crowds thronged the temple to witness ‘Garuda Seva’ procession, when the Lord’s idol was mounted on the carrier resembling a Garuda bird and paraded on the four streets encircling the temple.
Four precious ornaments worth ₹71 lakh were brought down from the Srivari temple at Tirumala to Govindaraja Swamy temple as a special gift from Lord Venkateswara to his elder brother on the festive occasion. The divine offerings included gold pendants studded with stones and a gold ‘Kasula Mala’, which were used during the Garuda Vahanam procession.
