The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is set to lose power at the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation this time as a precursor to it losing power in the State too, Congress leader K. Muraleedharan has said. He was speaking after inaugurating the Janakeeya Vicharana Yathra organised by the Congress in front of the Corporation office at Palayam on Friday.

He said that unlike previous years, the United Democratic Front (UDF) has been able to declare its candidates early for all wards in the Corporation without much internal differences. The first phase of campaigning has been completed successfully. Mr. Muraleedharan accused the LDF of having a deal with the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Corporation. He also accused the outgoing LDF-led administration of being mired in corruption.

“The Communist Party of India (Marxist)’s Mayor candidate S.P. Deepak had put up a Facebook post against the protesting ASHAs. The UDF on the other hand has fielded three ASHAs in the elections,” he said.
