The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a two-day workshop on water resources, which was chaired by its president, Nitin Nabin and attended by 25 Ministers from 14 States governed by the party. The workshop was held at the BJP headquarters, and it concluded on Thursday (September 3, 2026).
At a press conference, senior BJP leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said the BJP’s Good Governance and Policy Research department organised the event.
Increasing effectiveness
“Experts provided guidance on effective ministerial functioning, the landscape of India’s water resources, and organisation-government relations. The objective of the workshop was to enhance the Ministers’ effectiveness, help governments achieve better outcomes, and strengthen the goal of good governance,” he said.
Mr. Sahasrabuddhe has been overseeing the department for more than a decade. It has also played a role in conferences of the BJP and National Democratic Alliance Chief Ministers.
He said the Union government had earlier convened a conference of Water Resources Ministers from all the States. “After its conclusion, this meeting and workshop commenced yesterday with an address by BJP national president Nitin Nabin,” the BJP leader said, adding that a small inaugural programme was held at Mr. Nabin’s residence.
Ministers overseeing departments such as irrigation, rural drinking water and, in some cases, drinking water and sanitation, attended the workshop. Mr. Nabin interacted with the Ministers and shared his thoughts.
