The LDF government and the Chief Minister are at the forefront in helping the Centre cover up their major corruption scandals and in taking forward their politically motivated and communal agenda, according to All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary K.C. Venugopal, MP.

When the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] itself comes forward to oppose the Labour Codes, they should show at least an iota of honesty. Because, it is the CPI(M) which drafted the Labour Codes which are anti-working class. Whose interests is the CPI(M) protecting, Mr. Venugopal asked.

He also accused the State government of failing to blacklist companies involved in the construction of national highways which had violated safety standards and guidelines. The government is covering up the massive corruption involved in NH construction works, he alleged..

Rift in Karnataka

Reacting to reports about the rift between the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, Venugopal said that these were wrong. He said that Chief Minister Siddaramiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Sivakumar enjoyed a very cordial relationship.

“This morning, they both had breakfast together. Yet the media chooses not to see it,” he said.

Mr. Venugopal also accused the Modi government of compromising national interests for political gains.

Bihar election

Responding to questions on YouTuber Dhruv Rathee’s revelations regarding large-scale corruption and irregularities in the Bihar election, he said that the Election Commission had been turned into an institution to help BJP win elections.

The voting rights of citizens are being denied and only the wealthy seem to be winning elections.

He said that the voting rights of ordinary citizens are being denied and only the wealthy can win elections. In Bihar, money was transferred to people’s bank accounts barely a few days before polling, something that was unheard of

The National Democratic Alliance’s victory in Bihar was achieved by undermining democracy, Mr. Venugopal said. The Congress has collected five crore signatures against the partisan manner in which the Election Commission was functioning, which would be revealed at the mega rally to be held in Delhi on December 14.
