The Left-affiliated Kerala School Teachers’ Association (KSTA) and the All Kerala School Teachers’ Union (AKSTU) will stage education-related protests on Tuesday (June 30, 2026).

The KSTA will organise a chain protest by teachers in all schools seeking protection of public schools. According to KSTA, the teachers are demanding that those who are deployed for Census duty be given duty off. They should be temporarily replaced by teachers on daily wages to prevent academic disruption. Moreover, teacher transfers that had been stopped in the name of Census duty should be effected immediately, the KSTA said.

Against PM SHRI

The AKSTU will organise a convention on secular education at Ayyankali Hall in the State capital at 4 p.m. in protest against the PM SHRI scheme.

The convention will be inaugurated by Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Binoy Viswam. The convention continues the protest by the CPI and other organisations against PM SHRI, which, they say, is not just a school development scheme but an attempt by the Sangh Parivar to impose the National Education Policy.
