The Kochi city police on Sunday (May 31, 2026) recorded the statements of actor Ansiba Hassan as part of a preliminary inquiry into a complaint filed by her against actor Lakshmipriya, who is a vice-president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), and a woman police officer.
Ms. Hassan appeared before the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Thrikkakara, after she lodged the complaint with the Chief Minister’s office on May 29.
The police procedure comes amid an ongoing controversy surrounding AMMA which has been witnessing an internal turmoil with a section of office-bearers making allegations against each other. Ms. Hassan, who was a joint secretary of AMMA, had recently quit the association alleging a wilful campaign against her by a group of members.
In her complaint, she has reportedly accused Ms. Lakshmipriya of filing a false complaint against her and a sub-inspector (Reshma) of women’s cell, Thripunithura, of subjecting her to unlawful detention in the name of verifying the allegations against her.
“The ACP asked questions and understood the matter in detail. He said a decision on my complaint will be taken after listening to the other parties too,” Ms. Hassan told media as she came out of the police office. Ms. Lakshmipriya has been reportedly asked to appear before the investigators on Monday (June 1, 2026).
Slams Tiny Tom
The Drishyam actor, meanwhile, escalated her allegations against actor Tiny Tom, calling him a “social menace.” She made the comment to media as she arrived at the ACP’s office for recording her statement.
Ms. Hassan, who had earlier accused Mr. Tom of making comments linking her to religious conversion activities, said he had not only wronged her but also hurt an entire community.
Asked about AMMA’s reported plan to hear Ms. Hassan regarding her complaints against Mr. Tom and others, the actor reiterated her concerns. She asked how can the same executive committee against which she has made some allegations address her grievances.
She insisted that any such inquiry should be conducted by an independent committee comprising unbiased members. She said she had proposed actors Ramesh Pisharody, Dhyan Sreenivasan and Maala Parvathi as possible members of such a panel.
