Marking six decades of contributions of Fruit Research Station (FRS) to horticulture, its diamond jubilee celebrations and a two-day ‘Mango Diversity Show’ were officially inaugurated by the former Commissioner of Telangana State Election Commission Commissioner, V. Nagi Reddy, in Sangareddy, on Saturday.

The programmes were organised by the Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University (SKLTGHU).

The exhibition will be open to visitors and farmers on Sunday too. ‘Mango Processed Products Competition’ is scheduled for the concluding day.

The exhibition featured display of over 300 mango varieties, comprising 10 exotic coloured varieties, 39 juice variants, 30 commercial staples, six off-season yielders, 12 pickle-specific types, and more than 200 distinct table-consumption varieties.

Agricultural advancements such as rejuvenation technology, fertigation protocols, post-harvest disease management, fruit bagging techniques, and mechanised pruning were demonstrated live to the farming community.

Commemorating the 60-year milestone, the university management also hosted a felicitation ceremony to honour the dedicated service of retired teaching, non-teaching, and field staff who shaped the institution’s legacy.

Danda Raji Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of SKLTGHU, Prakash Patil, Project Coordinator, AICRP on Fruits, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru; A. Kiran Kumar, Director, TGSOCA, alongside university officials participated in the event.
