Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the new houses to be built by the Congress for the survivors of the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide in Wayanad on Thursday (February 26, 2026). His sister and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Wayanad MP, will be present at the event at Kalpetta.

A release said on Wednesday (February 25) that Mr. Gandhi will land on Thursday morning at the Kannur airport and attend a farmers’ meet at Peravoor. The event in Kalpetta has been scheduled for 2.30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Ms. Vadra will attend a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting at the Wayanad Collectorate on Thursday morning. She will hand over modern equipment for the rapid response team of the Forest department, arranged under a CSR initiative.

Ms. Vadra will attend events at Kalikavu and Thiruvambadi on Friday and visit the proposed site of the bypass road at Chippilithode.

On Saturday, she will attend the key-handover ceremony of houses built by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) for the landslide survivors. Ms. Vadra will also visit the proposed site of the Bairakkuppa bridge.
