The Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) is ready with the draft Oil Spill Contingency Plan (OSCP) aimed at developing a structured approach to marine oil spills.

A Bengaluru-based firm, which was entrusted with the work in June 2025, has submitted the draft OSCP. It includes oil spill modelling, marine sensitivity index mapping and net environmental benefit analysis, according to a report submitted by the KSPCB before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on April 20, 2026.
