Kerala Assembly polls 2026: 25 candidates remain after scrutiny in five constituencies in Pathanamthitta

With the scrutiny of nomination papers completed, the electoral picture in Pathanamthitta district has become clear, with 25 candidates set to contest the Assembly elections across five constituencies.

Thiruvalla has the highest number of candidates, with seven in the fray. Of the 16 nomination papers submitted, 15 were accepted, while the nomination of Independent candidate K.K. Surendran was rejected.

In Aranmula, 12 nomination papers were scrutinised, with six candidates qualifying to contest. The nomination of CPI(M) dummy candidate Sankaran was rejected. Adoor received 10 nomination papers, of which four candidates were found eligible to contest, with the nomination of CPI dummy candidate Achuthan being rejected.

In Konni, 12 nomination papers were submitted and four candidates made the final list. The nominations of CPI(M) dummy candidate R.B. Rajeev Kumar and BDJS candidate P. Jagathpriya were rejected. Ranni saw 11 nominations, of which nine were accepted, but only four candidates remain in the fray. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 26.

A total of 1,207 polling booths have been set up across the district. Of this, Thiruvalla accounts for 239 booths, followed by Ranni (237), Aranmula (272), Konni (228), and Adoor (231). Each polling station will cater to a maximum of 1,200 voters.
