Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: SDPI releases first list of 32 candidates

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has released its first list of 32 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections. The list was released was by party general secretaries P.R. Siyad, P.P. Rafeeq and others in a press conference in Kozhikode on Thursday (March 19, 2026).

Party State general secretary K.K. Abdul Jabbar will contest from the Kalliassery constituency in Kannur. Other nominees from the district are A.C. Jalaludeen (Thalassery), Basheer Punnad (Mattannur), and M.J. Mathew (Irikkur). The SDPI named candidates for eight seats in Malappuram—Sadik Naduthodi (Malappuram), K.K.N. Kurup (Vallikkunnu), Majeed Marakara (Kottakkal), Yusuf Chemmala (Eranad), C.H. Ashraf (Mankada), Anvar Pazhanji (Ponnani), Abdul Jaleel (Tavanur) and Abdul Khader A. (Kondotty).

It nominated five canidates for seats in Ernakulam—Aneesh Mattancherry (Kochi), Alosius Kollannur (Thrikkakara), V.M. Faisal (Paravur), Roy Arackal (Muvattupuzha), and Babu Vengoor (Piravom). The party will field candidates in fours seats each in Palakkad and Thrissur districts—S.P. Ameer Ali (Pattambi), Shaheer Chalippuram (Thrithala), Anvar Sadik (Nenmara), Ashitha Najeeba (Mannarkkad), K.V. Abdul Nazar Paroor (Guruvayur), P.R. Vinod Kumar (Chelakkara), Dileef Abdul Khader (Manalur), and Riyas Ervadi (Kaipamangalam).

Other SDPI candidates included on the initial list are C.A. Savad (Kasaragod), Afzal M.B. (Thodupuzha), Johnson Kandamchira (Kottayam), Althaf Hassan (Changanassery), Sharafath Mallam (Chadayamangalam), Jayarajan M. (Attingal) and Siyad Kandala (Nedumangad).
