The High Court of Karnataka has upheld the “leave India” notice issued to a 54-year-old French national, who had initially entered India on a tourist visa 15 years ago, but was found operating a restaurant and other commercial activities at Gokarna in Uttara Kannada district, in violation of visa norms.
Justice Sachin Shankar Magadum passed the order while dismissing a petition filed by Christophe Stephane Monxion, who had challenged the “leave India” notice, issued on March 16, 2026. The petitioner had challenged the legality of the notice while contending that no reasons were cited while compelling him to leave the country and no show-cause notice was issued prior to the issuance of the “leave India” notice.
