The State government’s decision to merge 23 District Santwana Kendras (DSK) with the Taluk Santwana Kendras (TSK) has drawn much ire, as activists argue that this would effectively mean the closure of all DSKs, functioning over the last 25 years. 

There have been multiple proposals to shut down the DSKs since the pandemic. Of the 31 districts, the DSKs have already been shut down in seven districts, and no centre was opened in Yadgir district. Now in a recent order, the government said that the DSKs in the remaining 23 districts would be merged with the TSKs and their functions transferred to the Sakhi Centres in the districts.
