The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suspended the licences of five chain-restaurant outlets, including four Domino’s outlets, and issued stop-business orders against two outlets in Greater Mumbai during a Statewide inspection drive on August 11.

The Maharashtra FDA also suspended the licences of 13 food establishments across Mumbai, Nashik, Palghar and Satara between July 10, 2026, and August 11, 2026, over violations ranging from poor hygiene and pest control to improper food storage and inadequate water testing.

In Mumbai, the licences of five establishments were suspended — three Domino’s Pizza outlets operated by Jubilant FoodWorks at Vile Parle West, Borivali West, and R-City Mall in Ghatkopar West, as well as Mumbai Metro Dhaba and Gulshan Da Punjabi Dhaba in Bhandup.

At the Domino’s outlets, the FDA cited various problems, including inadequate potable-water testing, food storage and temperature monitoring, pest-control measures, sanitation and employee hygiene facilities. At the two restaurants in Bhandup, there were issues with cleanliness, water facilities, storage, pest control, refrigeration and segregation of food.

Five establishments in Nashik also lost their licences, including Hotel Sayali Restaurant and Bar in Satpur, Hotel Chhote Miyan on College Road, Mani Mart on Peth Road in Panchavati, Abhishek Bakery and Sweet in CIDCO and Mohanlal Namkeen in Dwarka. The FDA said that they committed violations involving sanitation, food storage, potable water, equipment maintenance and pest control, while Mohanlal Namkeen was specifically flagged for unhygienic conditions in its kitchen and storage areas.

In Palghar, the licence of Daksh Hotel was suspended after the establishment recorded 45% non-compliance, including shortcomings in cleanliness, storage, water supply, pest control and segregation of raw, cooked, vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.

Two establishments in Satara district, a Domino’s Pizza outlet at Malkapur in Karad taluka and an outlet operated by Sapphire Foods India Limited in Karad, also had their licences suspended. At the Sapphire Foods outlet, inspectors flagged inadequate segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food and sauce and seasoning packets without packing or expiry dates.

According to the FDA, they inspected 120 hotels, restaurants and dhabas on August 10 and 11, issuing 54 improvement notices and suspending 11 licences. In a separate special drive covering 104 chain restaurant outlets on August 11, it issued 95 improvement notices, suspended five licences and ordered two Greater Mumbai establishments to immediately stop business.
