Leaders of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Friday said the job calendar released by the government recently had dashed the hopes of the unemployed youth.

Participating in a protest at Dharna Chowk, federation’s State secretary G. Ramanna said, “The TDP had promised to release a job calendar every year, but a job-less calendar was released after two years. This amounts to gross betrayal of the unemployed youth.”

He said that the Home Minister had earlier announced that there were 10,762 vacant police constable posts, but now only 1,970 posts had been shown in the job calendar. Similarly, there were over 5,000 vacancies in Group 1 and 2 services, but only 841 posts had been notified. The HRD Minister had said there were more than 4,000 vacancies in the universities, but only 1,500 posts were included in the job calendar, he said.

He criticised the delay in DSC notifications, saying that earlier it was promised in March, to be completed by June, later postponed to October, and now, only 2,565 posts were included in the job calendar.

He said under GO No. 13, 2,260 Special Education DSC posts were to be filled through direct recruitment, but now only 713 posts were shown in the job calendar. “There are no PET posts at all,” he said and demanded that the DSC posts be increased considering the number of retired teachers.

He said librarian posts had not been filled for the past 20 years, but only 100 posts were included in the job calendar, while there was no mention of Assistant and Veterinary Assistant posts in the Animal Husbandry Department. In the engineering sector, only 503 posts were shown, while more than 3,000 posts are vacant, and not a single post had been listed for APGENCO, TRANSCO, or DISCOMs, he added.

Mr. Ramanna demanded that the job calendar be revised, with at least 1 lakh posts, and also called for increasing the upper age limit to 47 years, and to 34 years for police constable candidates.

DYFI State president Y. Ramu, along with leaders Shiva, Lakshmi Narayana, Somashekar, Basava, Sai, Pranav, and Librarian JAC leaders Jagadeesh and Seenu participated in the protest.
