Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar said that the government’s objective is to see that students pursuing higher education should have professional skills by the end of their academic period.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Karnataka C2C (Campus to Career) Summit on Saturday, Dr. Sudhakar said that the summit was a first step towards preparing students for exiting the university with industry-required training. He said skill-based training was the only way to eliminate unemployment.

Dr. Sudhakar chaired a meeting with representatives of 39 leading corporate firms appealing to them to invest their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in the higher education sector of the State.

The Minister made a presentation of the skill centers, training and learning methods implemented in the last three years in government degree and technical colleges using the CSR funds.

“If big industries invest their CSR funds in higher education, we can innovate in skill learning among students in rural areas. The government is ready for an open discussion about their investment in this regard,” Dr. Sudhakar said.
