IUML declares candidates for Kochi Corporation, district panchayat

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has declared its candidates contesting for the Kochi Corporation and the district panchayat on Monday (November 17, 2025).

The party is contesting in six seats in the Corporation and two in the district panchayat. T.K. Asharaf, who won the last election as a party rebel and played a decisive role in the Left Democratic Front (LDF), managing to wrest power in the Corporation, is the contestant from Kaloor North (division 17), while Shiras Bava will contest from Thrikkanarvattom (18). Debutants Sheeja Navas and Fausia Sajeer are the candidates from Mattancherry (6) and Kalvathy (2) divisions. Former councillor Sunitha Ashraf will contest from Chakkamadam (7), and Raji Rajan from Thazhappu (57). Rasia Sawad and P.M. Nadir Shah will contest from Kadungalloor and Edathala divisions, respectively, of the district panchayat.
