The Hebbagodi police in Bengaluru have arrested a 25-year-old ITI graduate for allegedly creating fake government ID cards and certificates for the last one year.

The accused is Raghuveer from Anekal. He was running a cyber cafe on Bhavani Road at Hebbagodi where he would allegedly create fake government IDs and educational certificates with forged documents. He would sell them to his customers for a fee ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 for fake Aadhaar cards, and ₹50,000 for educational certificates, like SSLC and PU marks cards.

A majority of his customers were approaching him for fake Aadhaar cards to be used for booking hotel rooms, a police officer said, adding that Raghuveer would advise his customers to use the fake SSLC and PU marks cards only for private company jobs to avoid getting caught.

Based on a tip-off, a police team led by Inspector Somashekhar sent an undercover policeman to get an ID card. After the crime was confirmed, police raided the cyber cafe.

The police seized the electronic equipment and mobile phones from Raghuveer and his associate Yashwanth, 19, a PU dropout.
