The Legal Coordination Committee (LCC) for Government Doctors has urged the Tamil Nadu government to obtain special permission from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to issue appointment orders to 751 doctors selected through the Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB).

In a statement, the LCC said though 1,071 doctors were selected, only 320 were issued appointment orders so far. Only if they join the service before March will they be eligible to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) postgraduate examination.

MRB issued a notification on November 21, 2025, to fill 1,100 medical officer posts. In the exam held on January 25, 2026, 20,867 candidates appeared, of whom 16,986 passed. After certificate verification, 1,071 doctors were finally selected. The Health Minister handed over appointment orders to the first 100 doctors, while candidates ranked 101 to 320 were also given appointment orders the next day.

Other candidates have not yet been called for counseling. The association urged the government to immediately issue appointment orders to 751 doctors who are waiting.
