The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) sanctioned ₹20-lakh research grant to VVIT University under its prestigious RESPOND programme, announced Pro-Chancellor Vasireddy Mahadev in a press release, here on Thursday. The approved project, titled “Low Noise Time and Frequency Transfer using Optical Medium”, was submitted to ISRO’s ISTRAC Centre in Bengaluru.
N. Durga Rao of the Electronics and Communication Engineering department will lead the project, with M.Y. Bhanu Murthy and Seshu Chakravarthi as co-investigators. The research aims to develop advanced optical fibre systems for highly precise timing and frequency transfer, crucial for satellite navigation and communication.
Chancellor Vasireddy Vidyasagar, Vice-Chancellor Kodali Rambabu, and other university leaders congratulated the team, emphasising that student participation in the ISRO-funded project will enhance hands-on research experience in space technologies.
