Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday (April 3, 2026) highlighted the U.P. model of dealing with “rioters” while asserting that only the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has the capacity to rid Assam of “infiltrators” and prevent any demographic change.

Addressing an election rally for Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate Dipak Kumar Das in western Assam’s Barpeta, a Muslim-dominated district, he hinted at the similarity between the “rioters” in his home State and the “infiltrators” in Assam.

“In Uttar Pradesh, there is no riot, no curfew, and all is well. No one can offer namaz on the streets, and there is no shouting from any place of worship. If anyone dares to create trouble, his property is seized and distributed among the poor and Dalits,” he said, insisting that rioters and infiltrators have no rights.

Mr. Adityanath accused Congress of playing with Assam’s culture and trying to change the demography of the State. He said decades of Congress rule had weakened the State’s internal security and social fabric.

“Congress only encouraged infiltration, violence, and riots, putting local culture and heritage under threat… They tried to rob you of your rights, to take away your land and resources,” he said.

Mr. Adityanath also criticised the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), accusing the party of seeking power through the support of infiltrators. He alleged that Congress and AIUDF were working together in ways that could “compromise the culture and heritage of the State.”

Asserting that the BJP-led NDA guarantees stability, he said it would ensure law and order while cracking down on illegal entrants. “Each infiltrator will be identified and ejected from Assam,” he said, stressing the BJP’s resolve to stop “love jihad” and “land jihad”.

The Chief Minister also said that the NDA was committed to development while nurturing heritage.

The election to the 126-member Assam Assembly is scheduled for April 9. The counting is on May 4.
