HYDERABAD
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has secured a park site measuring 3,300 square yards in Gopal Nagar of Kukatpally mandal, Medchal–Malkajgiri district, on Friday.
The Gopal Nagar layout, spread over 92.21 acres in survey numbers 148 to 155, was developed in 1980 with over 1,200 plots. At the time, the developers had earmarked land at three locations for parks. While two of these park sites have already been encroached upon, the third was also facing a similar fate, prompting representatives of the Gopal Nagar Residents Welfare Association to lodge a complaint during HYDRAA’s Prajavani programme.
HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath examined the complaint and ordered a field-level inquiry. Following a joint inspection by HYDRAA, GHMC and Revenue officials, it was confirmed that the land earmarked for the park was under encroachment. Acting on the Commissioner’s directions, HYDRAA officials removed a shed that had been erected on the site, installed fencing around the park land, and put up boards identifying it as a protected park area.
