Hyderabad Collector orders door-to-door fever surveys, better healthcare at government facilities

Hyderabad District Collector Priyanka Ala on Monday (September 7) directed health officials to ensure quality medical services and adequate facilities at government hospitals and primary health centres (PHCs) across the district.

The Collector issued the directions during a surprise inspection of the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) at Bowenpally where she reviewed the functioning of the facility, examined official records and interacted with patients to assess the quality of healthcare being provided.

Ms. Ala stressed the importance of punctuality among medical staff and directed officials to maintain cleanliness within healthcare facilities as well as in their surrounding areas. As part of the measures to strengthen disease surveillance, officials were instructed to conduct cluster-wise, door-to-door fever surveys across the district to identify people with fever-related illnesses and ensure that they receive timely treatment.

The Collector also directed officials at healthcare facilities to submit medicine indents in advance and maintain sufficient stocks to prevent shortages. She instructed officials to ensure that patients undergo necessary diagnostic tests before treatment is initiated.

During the inspection, the Collector visited various sections of the UPHC, including the diagnostic laboratory and medical store. She reviewed registers containing details of outpatient numbers, vaccination, medicine stocks, antenatal care cases and staff attendance.
