Former Union Secretary of Higher Education and Social Justice R. Subrahmanyam on Tuesday (December 02, 2025) emphasised the need to position India as a global start-up hub for innovation, incubation, and entrepreneurship, driving inclusive economic growth aligning with “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.

He was speaking at the valedictory session of the third phase of IIC Regional Meet-2025, hosted at SRM University-A.P. by Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), an initiative of Ministry of Education’s Innovative Cell (MIC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

“Innovation is collaborative and multi-disciplinary, it needs a human element, a scientific element, a technical element and a psychological element,” he said, encouraging Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to nurture an entrepreneurial and innovative culture and extend opportunities to grassroots innovators.

A flagship programme “Inno Tribe”, the country’s first innovation-driven student-led initiative by the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) in Andhra Pradesh, connecting students and youth with the innovation ecosystem, particularly at the grassroot level was launched. Group CEO of RTIH P. Dhatri Reddy said that idea was to provide a playground and launchpad to students in Andhra Pradesh to explore and experiment with ideas and become the first generation of entrepreneurs in their families.

The central inauguration of the IIC Regional Meet-2025 was done by the Chairman of AICTE T.G. Sitharam in virtual mode. He said the event would serve as a platform to showcase ideas and urged institutes to transform into living laboratory that converts dreams into marketable products.

Vice-Chancellor of SRM-A.P. Ch. Satish Kumar, Registrar R. Premkumar, Senior Regional Manager and Head of NRDC, Ministry of Science and Technology Bijay Kumar Sahu, CEO of RTIH, Vijayawada G. Krishnan and others were present.
